A newly discovered snake from New Guinea has been named after Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. Scientists named the new species Lielaphis slashi or “Slash’s groundsnake” in honor of his lifelong love of reptiles.The reddish-brown, nonvenomous snake is about 71 cm long and was initially mistaken for another species. Genetic testing and physical differences later revealed that it was actually new to science.Did you know? 🎓
