Ukraine reportedly killed Russian Colonel Alexander Isaev, commander of the 8th Artillery Regiment of Russia’s 18th Combined Arms Army, with an FPV drone strike in Kherson region on September 19. Isaev previously served in Ukraine’s military in Crimea as chief of staff and first deputy commander of military unit A1743 before defecting to Russia. He returned to Russian military service in 2022 and was appointed commander of the artillery regiment in 2024.
