❗️Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said he would rather see Polish Patriot missiles intercept Russian targets over Kyiv than over Warsaw. He argued that military support for Ukraine serves Poland’s national interest and said he would defend the government’s decision.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow will no longer trust the West’s stated willingness to negotiate. He claimed that the remaining goodwill and expectations for better relations have been fully exhausted.
❗️ Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said talks are still ongoing on transferring MiG-29s to Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian drone technologies. He described the offer as a “clear proposal: MiGs for drones” and said he hopes it will be finalized.
❗️ Zelensky said the first meeting on Ukraine’s Freya antiballistic system project will take place in France in the coming days. He described Freya as a European model intended to intercept ballistic targets, similar to Patriot, but cheaper and more suitable for mass production. He said the task was set by him and Ukrainian manufacturers.
Zelensky said the site in Vyshneve, hit by Russian missiles and drones, was an ammunition depot belonging to an Ukroboronprom-linked enterprise. A criminal case is underway, those responsible will be held accountable, and dismissals are expected.
More countries want to see Ukraine join NATO, Zelensky said. He said allies recognize that Ukraine’s military, defense industry, and technology companies are operating at NATO standards and would strengthen the Alliance.
Zelensky said Ukraine and the US must now settle technical details after his agreement with Trump on producing Patriot missiles in Ukraine. He said the sooner both sides agree, the sooner production can begin.
❗️ Ukraine will receive Patriot missiles from the United States in the coming days, Zelensky said. The missiles are likely financed through the PURL program, under which European partners recently pledged more funds to buy interceptors for Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry outlined results from the NATO summit in Ankara: $80 billion for Ukraine’s defense in 2026, with the same level planned for 2027. Norway will provide over $306 million for Patriot missiles, Germany will fund production of Bars drone-missiles on its territory for Ukraine, and Kyiv signed new Drone Deals with Estonia, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
Czech President Petr Pavel said the next two months are critical for starting peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. He warned that after Russia’s parliamentary elections, Putin may resort to general mobilization and further escalate the war.
Defense Minister Fedorov said Ukrainian Defense Forces used ground robotic systems for 16,600+ logistics and evacuation missions in June, 18.6% more than in May. He said each robot mission in place of a soldier can mean a life saved.
❗️ NATO countries pledged at least €140 billion in military aid for Ukraine over two years, according to the summit declaration published July 8. Allies committed €70 billion in 2026 and at least the same level in 2027, while also announcing $50 billion in new arms purchases and plans to expand collective defense production capacity.
❗️ Putin is not preparing to wind down the war and is instead readying a new escalation, Reuters reported, citing Kremlin sources. The report said he has not abandoned the goal of fully capturing Donbas and rejected freezing the war along the current frontline. Russia expects to keep attacking despite heavy losses and slow advances, and a new mobilization wave may be needed.
Putin’s yacht Graceful relocated from the Baltic Sea to Severomorsk, where Russia’s Northern Fleet is based, DR reported after reviewing satellite imagery and MarineTraffic data. The yacht passed through Danish waters escorted by a Voevoda-class vessel and the destroyer Severomorsk.
President Zelensky said SBU personnel successfully struck two oil depots in Stavropol and Tver, around 500 km from the frontline. He added that Ukrainian Defense Forces also hit a fuel storage site about 800 km from the frontline, an oil pumping station in Ufa nearly 1,500 km from Ukraine’s border, and an oil terminal in Russia’s Rostov region.
