President Zelensky has appointed Sviatoslav Zaits as commander of Ukraine's Ground Forces, dismissing Hennadii Shapovalov from the post. In 2014, Zaits commanded a reconnaissance company of the 25th Brigade during the events in Crimea. He later served as chief of staff and deputy commander of the 8th Corps before taking command of the 20th Army Corps in April 2026.
