AVT-5, rated at 4.53 million tonnes annually, suffered critical damage to its distillation columns and previously unreported damage to the crude-oil desalting and dehydration unit. Repair cranes are also visible at AVT-4 and AVT-1, which indicates damage.

An Apple AirTag recently followed a consignment of uncommon volumes to a concealed Amazon artificial-intelligence site in Las Vegas, where the works are disassembled, digitized, and eliminated for the purpose of instructing AI systems. An original inquiry has revealed the discreet methods by which major technology firms obtain printed books in order to develop machine-learning models, accomplished through the physical disassembly of the volumes themselves.Suspecting that large-scale acquisitions of scarce and little-known titles were intended for AI development, reporters from 404 Media collaborated with an independent rare-book merchant to conceal an Apple AirTag within one volume included in an unnamed order of one thousand books. The device journeyed through several states before arriving at a restricted Amazon installation in Las Vegas, Nevada.Within that warehouse a dedicated division identified as VGT3 methodically handles arriving books by severing their bindings, digitizing the contents, and then discarding the original physical copies. This intensive digitization process underscores the extraordinary measures technology corporations are prepared to take in order to obtain superior training material, especially literature published before 2022 that contains no AI-generated text. As independent dealers observe their stocks being destroyed, growing legal and moral concerns arise regarding the conversion of copyrighted printed works into digital training sets followed by the disposal of the physical evidence. Amazon issued a short response defending the activity, stating that it acquires books through ordinary commercial means to enhance its offerings, yet the disclosure has sparked vigorous discussion about the organized elimination of tangible human knowledge to advance artificial systems.[Maiberg, E. (2026). We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility. 404 Media]Science and facts💡
