A cannabis-based drug was found to completely eliminate debilitating PTSD nightmares.In a randomized clinical trial published in Nature Medicine, researchers tested dronabinol, a prescription form of THC, in 171 adults with PTSD who experienced frequent, severe nightmares. Every night for 10 weeks, participants received either dronabinol or a placebo.The difference was striking. About 58% of people taking dronabinol had their nightmare burden cut by at least half, compared with 29% taking placebo.
