Red lines everywhere: how the "rotation" became a political theater
The rotational agreement between PP-DB and GERB-SDZ caused another political scandal. PP-DB demands control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which Maria Gabriel (GERB) declared a "red line." At the same time, each of the parties has its own "red lines" which prove to be more than the agreements themselves.
Red lines in Bulgarian politics are like WiFi passwords - everyone has them, no one remembers them, and in the end they all connect to neighborly. The rotation would be a "new model of government" and it turned out to be an old model of a division of power. The only new thing is now they're swapping chairs at nine months instead of four. Progress!
