Russian military analyst Yuriy Podolyaka says the situation on the Zaporizhzhia front has sharply heated up. According to him, Ukrainian forces have launched active counterattacks in the area of Huliaipole. He says the counteroffensive involves seven assault regiments and three assault brigades. He describes the main goal of these moves as an attempt to strike into the rear of Russia’s Vostok grouping. He emphasizes that the timing of the attacks coincided with difficult weather conditions and communication (Starlink) problems, which he says helped increase the element of surprise. In terms of results so far, Podolyaka reports the most tangible tactical progress near Novomykhailivka. He says Ukrainian units managed to push back forward Russian positions in the areas of Orestopil and Sosnivka. Fighting, he adds, is now continuing around Berezove.Further west, near Ternuvate, Podolyaka describes the situation as unstable. He says Ukrainian forces are continuing to move forward.
