The unit is a key processing stage where hydrocarbon feedstock is converted into ethylene and propylene and has a design capacity of 2.7 million tons per year. The complex, a SIBUR-Sinopec joint venture, is still in the commissioning phase ahead of industrial operation. The cause of the fire has not been reported.
