Ukraine struck the Afipsky oil refinery on August 25, setting its gas and gas-condensate processing unit with an integrated gas fractionation block on fire. The unit stabilizes gas condensate and separates light gases into fractions used to produce high-octane fuel. Its loss is expected to sharply reduce gasoline and diesel output, including supplies for Russia's military, and force unprocessed light gases to be burned off at flares.
