A source familiar with the matter says Trump has asked Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries as part of broader de-escalation efforts. Kyiv does not want to halt such strikes unilaterally. Zelensky is also expected to discuss securing US-made Patriot air defense missiles for the winter if Russia is not prepared to de-escalate its attacks.
