Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed the loss of a MiG-29 and its pilot during a combat mission on October 1. Capt. Marat Mambetov, 25, a flight commander with the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade “Ghost of Kyiv,” was conducting missile and bomb strikes against Russian forces when his aircraft was hit by a Russian missile. Mambetov ejected from the fighter but did not survive, according to the Air Force.
