❗️❗️The EU is working on alternatives to Starlink for Ukraine. From early 2027, the European Commission plans to integrate commercial satellite capacity into GOVSATCOM, including to meet Ukrainian needs. Since January 2026, GOVSATCOM has pooled government satellite capacity to provide secure communications. The EU also plans to make its IRIS² satellite constellation fully operational in 2029, but it remains unclear whether interim options can fully replace Starshield.
