US Energy Secretary Chris Wright says allowing Russia to export diesel is intended as pressure on Moscow rather than a concession. Speaking on CNN, Wright argued that Russia currently has no surplus diesel to export and would have to slow the pace of its war against Ukraine to free up fuel for sale. He called Trump’s decision a “creative incentive” for Russia to end the war and rejected the idea that it amounted to a concession.
