Germany’s state of Hesse will award President Volodymyr Zelensky its highest honor, the Wilhelm Leuschner Medal. Minister-President Boris Rhein said the award also recognizes the Ukrainian people for defending their sovereignty, democracy and European values against Russia’s war. Rhein praised Zelensky’s “unprecedented commitment” and said the award is a strong expression of Hesse’s continued support for Ukraine. The ceremony is set for December 1.
