Habitat 67 is one of the most iconic and revolutionary residential complexes in the world, located at Cité-du-Havre along the Saint Lawrence River in Montreal. Designed by Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie, the building originated as his master's thesis at McGill University before being realized as a pavilion and housing model for the world's fair Expo 67.The structure is made of 354 prefabricated concrete modules stacked in a geometric configuration resembling building blocks. Safdie designed the complex to combine the benefits of suburban homes, like private gardens and natural light, with the density of urban high-rises. The configuration created 148 residences where each home occupies one to four cubes and enjoys a private rooftop terrace.The building is a designated historic monument by the city of Montreal and the province of Quebec.
