Ukraine’s Book of Executioners project confirmed the August 13 death of Robert Shageev, former commander of Ukraine’s sole submarine Zaporizhzhia. In 2014, after Russia occupied Crimea, he surrendered the vessel without a fight, broke his oath and joined Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. Russian authorities arrested Russian escort Margarita Reut, 32, after Shageev was killed by a bomb hidden in a trash can in Sevastopol. She has been charged with terrorism resulting in death.
