Ukraine’s SBU says Russia’s FSB is using networks of fake dating profiles to target Ukrainian servicemembers. After a servicemember responds, operatives allegedly work to gain his trust and extract information about his unit, location and tasks, with the SBU saying the ultimate objective can be his physical elimination. The agency says its military counterintelligence prevented more than 50 such cases in 2026 and warns troops against sharing service information with online contacts.
